How to vote?​

Sunday 9 June 2024

In Portugal, you can vote in the European elections if you are:

  • at lease 18 years old on election day
  • a Portuguese or an EU citizen with a legal residence in Portugal or a Portuguese citizen living abroad or a Brazilian citizen under certain conditions.

If you are an expat living in Portugal you have to register at the local community before Wednesday 10 April.

If you are a Portuguese citizen living abroad you are automatically registered, as long as you hold a citizen’s card.

If you are a Portuguese citizen living in Portugal you are automatically registered, as long as you hold a citizen’s card.

You must vote at your designated polling station. Take your ID with you.
